Summary: | A surveying device for radioactive waste containers weighs each container individually and measures neutron and gamma dose rates, esp. for determining plutonium content. Each arriving container is received, moved on a (horizontal) conveyor to a stop point, then pushed by a pushing conveyor to a weighing machine at the same level, then moved onwards by the same pusher, still at the same level, to the entry pallet of the radiation measurement unit; after radiation measurements have been carried out, esp. by counter tubes, the container leaves the pallet at the same level, continues along a second horizontal conveyor and is discharged. As an automated surveying and measuring appts. for weighing and determining the plutonium content of low-activity wastes. The appts. does not require highly skilled personnel to operate it, being largely automatic both in the conveying and in the recording and evaluating procedures. |
