Summary:A prim. cell, esp. a button cell for the power supply of electronic watches with a liq. crystal display, has a housing which consists of a ceramic or glass ring, closed at both ends hermetically by metal discs. The metal discs combine the functions of contact areas and of current collectors. The ceramic ring is pref. metallised at both ends and closed by brazing a metallic bottom plate to one and a metallic cover plate to the other end. Button cell is conventionally shaped but housing reliably prevents the leakage of electrolyte for several (five) years.
