Summary: | Dyeing or printing of cellulose textiles (or their blends with synthetic fibres) using disperse dyes (I) in aq. media in presence of water-soluble swelling agents anddye solvents is now carried out simultaneously with finishing. The new feature is that the swelling agent/dye solvent is 30-300 wt. pts. per 1000 wt. pts. liquor or printing paste of a methylol and/or methylol ether cpd. (A) of (cyclic) ureas, carbamates or aminotriazines etherified with polyethylene glycol, opt. together with up to 50 wt. % acid catalyst. After treatment the dye is fixed at is not >230 degrees C. Esp. (A) is etherified with a PEG contg. 5-25 ethylene oxide units. Dyeing and finishing are carried out in a single stage giving a finished article of better feel and good, smooth appearance. Method is esp. suitable for cotton and cotton-polyester blends. |
