Employing insol. aluminosilicate and PVP as soaping auxiliaries - for dyed or printed textiles, giving synergistic improvement in dye fixation

The parent patent described the use of finely-divided, insoluble aluminosilicates (Kat2O)x.Al2O3.(SiO2)y (I) (Kat=alkali cation, pref. Na; x = 0.7-1.5; y = 0.8-6(1.3-4) of particle size 0.1-25 (1-12u) and Ca binding capacity 20-200 mg CaO/g (dry basis) as soaping auxiliaries for dyed or printed text...

Summary:The parent patent described the use of finely-divided, insoluble aluminosilicates (Kat2O)x.Al2O3.(SiO2)y (I) (Kat=alkali cation, pref. Na; x = 0.7-1.5; y = 0.8-6(1.3-4) of particle size 0.1-25 (1-12u) and Ca binding capacity 20-200 mg CaO/g (dry basis) as soaping auxiliaries for dyed or printed textiles. In this Addition (I) are used together with poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) of mol. wt. 5000-106. Pref. the ratio (I):PVP is 1-10:1 (3-5:1) and suitable treatment baths contain, per l, 0.1-2 g (I); 0.1-1g PVP and 0.15-1g anionic and/or nonionic surfactant. When used together (I) and PVP improve fixation of the dye, and hence its fastness to washing, more than either when used alone. The amt. of surfactant and salt needed are reduced so waste water quality is improved.
