Summary:Candle filter has elements which can be easily changed. The element is attached to an insert which is mounted from above and which is removed by pulling out the insert. The dirty liq. inlet is on the side of the housing and it discharges into a small vol. around the element. The filtrate flows through the element and up the insert. There is an annular passage around the top of the insert for the filtrate to flow outfrom. Used for filtering liqs. esp. viscous liqs. as used in fibre spinning. The filter reduces down time for element changing and also greatly reduces the dead vol. in the filter where liq. can solidify or degenerate.
