Summary: | The ignition system for an IC engine has an energy store which can be discharged by a controlled switch. It generates in a transformer secondary winding at least one HV ignition pulse for the sparking plug. At least one further energy store is provided and the discharge of this store can be delayed by a specified time in an allocated delay device. The system gives two successive sparks of a spark of longer than normal duration, with the total spark energy being greater than in normal practice. |
