Summary:Sealant for containers contg. aq. compsn., to prevent drying out, consists of a polyethylene glycol (I) contg. a hydrophobic gp. or a highly concn. system of (I) and water. The sealant is useful for packages contg. pencils based on aq. gels, e.g. for the application of cosmetics or pharmaceuticals or for adhesives. The highly conc. system is applied in a state of low viscosity cong. under 25 (under 15) wt.% water. The container to be sealed is kept in the air until the required water balance with the atmos. is obtd. (I) becomes highly viscous to gelatinous at equilibrium with the ambient atmos.
