Summary: | The protective sleeve for sea surface penetrating cables such as floating island moorings is a tubular body flexibly suspended from the structure concerned, in such a way that its natural inclination matches the cable angle and its ends are respectively well above and below mean seal level. It may be split lengthwise to facilitate installation/removal. The tube is partially filled with corrosion inhibiting fluid, pref. lighter than water, immiscible with it and displacing it from solid surfaces. One or both tube ends may have cuffs to restrict water entry/fluid escape. |
