Summary: | The container has a closing sheet sealed or welded in position along the edge of its opening. It or the sheet has, at least at the seam a laminar coating of low-density material. This coating (1, 11) is compressed at the seam (5) by between 3 and 40%. Its density can be less than 500 grammes per litre, and it can preferably be of extruded plastic foam. The degree of compression can be between 10 and 25% being typically effected at the time of the sealing or welding operation. The design greatly reduces the risks of defective seams, nor is ultra-accurate setting of the pressure exerted by the welding jaws necessary. |
