Summary:Manilosporins A, B1, B2, C1 and C2 are claimed. They each contain the elements C, H, N and O; they contain amino acid units; and they are characterises by their m.pt. (A >=127-133 degrees C; B1 >=178-182 degrees C; B2 >=142-149 degrees C; C1 >=300 degrees C; C2 >=259-261 degrees C). Manilosporin A is active against Gram-positive bacteria; B1 and B2 are active against Gram-negative bacteria; C1 and C2 are active against fungi (including dermatophytes and phytopathogenic fungi). The manilosporins are obtd. by culturing Bacillus subtilis var. manilospora.
