Continuous level dyeing of polyamide free from frosting effect - using foaming agent mixt. of alkyl (aryl) sulphonate and hydroxyethylated fatty alcohol

The process is carried out by application of a dye liquor contg. a foaming agent, followed by fixing with steam at 100-140 degrees C. The foaming agen consists of (I) 0.1-1, pref. 0.15-0.8 g alkyl (aryl)sulphonate with a 10-20C alkyl chain and (II) 0.5-10, pref. 1-8g hydroxyethylation prod. of a 10-...

Summary:The process is carried out by application of a dye liquor contg. a foaming agent, followed by fixing with steam at 100-140 degrees C. The foaming agen consists of (I) 0.1-1, pref. 0.15-0.8 g alkyl (aryl)sulphonate with a 10-20C alkyl chain and (II) 0.5-10, pref. 1-8g hydroxyethylation prod. of a 10-20, pref. 12-17C fatty alcohol with 6-25, pref. 8-13 mole ethylene oxide per kg liquor. The process avoids disadvantages associated with the use of conventional foaming agents, e.g. foaming of the steam sump, which leads to staining, and reduced yield due to retardation by high concns. of foaming agent.
