Summary: | The dentist's handpiece emits u.v. rays. A housing contains the ray source, to which wires lead, while there emanates from the source a hollow tubular optic fibre. The source is also situated between opposite inlets and outlets for cooling air. An air supply hose is connected to the housing and also a source of compressed cooling air. The end of the hose in the housing forms the cooling air inlet. The hose can also accommodate the electric supply wires, being large enough for these wires not to hinder the air flow. An air distribution device can be mounted on the inlet side of the light source, being typically in the form of a sieve, a sintered metal disc etc. |
