Summary:1527948 Treating aluminate liquor ALUTERV ALUMINIUMIPARI TERVEZÍ VALLALAT and TATABANYAI SZENBANYAK 28 Sept 1976 [7 Oct 1975] 40286/76 Heading C1A In a process for treatment of clarified aluminate liquor formed in alumina production based on the polymorphism of dicalcium silicate, the clarified aluminate liquor is preheated to 80‹ C. to 90‹ C. by heat exchange with desilicated aluminate liquor of a temperature of 90‹ C. to 110‹ C., then a suspension of Ca(OH) 2 is added to the preheated liquor before, during or after regulating it to a temperature of 90‹ C. to 120‹ C., until a final concentration of 1 to 5 g/1 of Ca(OH) 2 is attained, the mixture is kept under stirring at 90‹ C. to 120‹ C. for 30 to 120 minutes; the silicate precipitate formed is then removed; the desilicated aluminate liquor obtained in this way is regulated to a temperature of 70‹ C. to 90‹ C. by the heat exchange with clarified aluminate liquor; the cooled desilicated liquor is subjected to carbonation; and the aluminium hydrate formed is separated, leaving a digestion solution of a temperature of 70‹ C. to 90‹ C.
