Summary: | The immediate spray area of the stirrer is protected with a dome having 2-6 (pref. 2.5-4) times the stirrer's diameter. The air stream which is carried along by the dome's walls which dip into the liquid, pref. in the form of fine bubbles, is 0.05-2 times (pref. 0.2-0.5 times) the water stream agitated by the stirrer. The activated sludge is also kept in suspension. Only the immediate stirrer area of the tank need be covered. Pref. the moment of the stirrer and dome is 1.5-3 times that of an unprotected stirrer at the same depth of immersion and speed of rotation. |
