Summary: | In this metallic laminar structure, preferably comprising sheets of titanium or titanium compounds, the sheets are connected to one another in selected areas by welding, preferably diffusion welding, and superplastically strained in the other areas. For this purpose, layered sheets (10, 12, 14) are treated in the other areas (30, 32, 34) in such a way that welding cannot take place. Connection points for lines (72, 74) for feeding in an inert pressurised gas are formed by means of recesses (76, 77) and cut-outs (78, 79). After the welding process, air is extracted by means of lines (52, 60) from the cavities of the mould (44, 46) heated to the welding temperature and pressurised gas is forced into the laminar structure (10, 12, 14). The pressure in the laminar structure can be equalised by means of holes (96). This makes possible the welding and superplastic forming. Due to the fact that only one apparatus (44, 46) is used for both operations, the production time is shortened and equipment costs can be reduced. |
