Summary:The process comprises providing the tubular body, into which the crude gas is introduced, with edge water is stripping rings, with swirl means so that the gas is moved with the liq. from the edge of the tubular body turbulently into the centre of the tubular body. In front and/or behind the stripping rings are wick-like cords consisting of absorbent, flat or round, wire-like or plastic material which becomes completely satd. with the liq. and of which the surface is exposed to the swirling gas causing min. agglomeration or adsorption or absorption The wick-like cords may be only a few cm. or several m. long. For absorption processes they are suspended so that not only are they surface active, but also cause improved agglomeration or absorption by contacting each other.
