Summary: | The detection of scale depends on a heat detection circuit placed at some appropriate point in the coffee percolator etc. A cold water reservoir containing the correct amount of water, is slowly emptied through an electric heater which boils the water through a filter containing coffee into a suitable vessel mounted on a hot plate. When the sequence is completed and all the water used, the rise in temperature of the water heater element is used to open a switch by means of a bimetallic detector and thus interrupt the electric circuit. Across the switch and inside the reservoir is connected the scale detection circuit consisting of a temperature dependent resistor indicator lamp and a ballast resistor. |
