Synthetic leather base material - of improved water holding capacity
Synthetic leather base material is obtd. from a rubber latex impregnated fleece and has a water holding capacity of 2-8 wt. % relative to the dry wt. of material, a tensile strength of 30-200 kg./cm2 and an extension at break of 30-150%. The latex mixt. contains a heat sensitive material, a quick ac...

Summary: | Synthetic leather base material is obtd. from a rubber latex impregnated fleece and has a water holding capacity of 2-8 wt. % relative to the dry wt. of material, a tensile strength of 30-200 kg./cm2 and an extension at break of 30-150%. The latex mixt. contains a heat sensitive material, a quick acting vulcanisation accelerator and an emulsifying substance, insoluble and inert in the latex and remaining constituents of the latex. The mixt. in the fleece after impregnation is coagulated, vulcanised and finally dried. Vulcanisation is in the presence of steam. The synthetic leather base is microporous, and achieves 70-80% of the water holding capacity of natural leather. |
