Summary:Dyeing or printing of polyacrylonitrile or acid-modified polyester fibres, or mists. contg. these is performed with cationic dyes in presence of a fixing accelerator of formula A-X- HCH2OCH2- H-CN (in which A is phenyl diphenyl or naphthyl with up to two 1-4C alkyl, 1-2C alkoxy, F, Cl or Br substits; R' and R2 are H or 1-2C alkyl and X is -O- or -COO-); in amt. of 2-25g/l of dye bath. Method is more efficient than the nearest known accelerator (benzyl oxypropionitrile) giving a further redn. in dyeing time, better utilisation of the dye, and deeper shades. Can be used in high-spped continuous dyeing processes. Toxicity of cpds. used is very low.
