Scalp-care agents contain at least one antidiabetic sulphonylurea and/or sulhonamide and/or a non-toxic salt as active ingredient, together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier material for external application. Active ingredients are pref. cpds. of the formula: R-SO2-NH-CO-NR1R2 (I) (where R is indanyl, or phenyl opt. mono- or disubstd. by halogen, amino, 1-4C alkyl, acyl, alkoxy, or alkylthio, crotonylamino or 2-(5-chloro-2-methoxybenzamido)-ethyl; R 1 is 1-4C alkyl, 5-8C cycloalkyl opt. substd. by 1-4C dialkylamino, or perhydroazepinyl; and R2 is H; or R1 + R2 is tetra- or pentamethylene) and cpds. of the formula R3-C6H4-SO2-NHR4 (where R3 is H, halogen, amino, 1-4C alkoxy or 1-4C acyl and R4 is 5-R5-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl or 5-R6-2pyrimidyl in which R5 is H or 1-4C alkyl and R6 is H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or (1-4C alkoxy)-(1-4C alkoxy). The agents are for topical treatment of scalp disorders such as hair loss, seborrhoea and dandruff. Application of the new agents eliminates itchiness of the scalp and excessive secretion of sebum; dandruff, hairloss and greying of the hair are retarded, the hair is strengthened, hair growth is promoted, and the hair takes on a voluminous appearance. The agents do not give rise to allergic effects. They can be used as cosmetics or as therapeutic or prophylactic medicaments.
