Summary:Spiro cpds. of formula (I) and their salts with acids are new: (R = methyl or benzyl). They are prepd. by reacting R2NCH2CH2Y (Y = reactive atom or gp.) with 4-phenyl-1-thia-4,8-diazaspiro 4,5 decan-3-one. This is an Addition to 2255562. (I) and their salts show strong action against liver damage induced by e.g. CCl4 and can be used to treat acute and chronic hepatitis; arrhosis; fatty liver; arteriosclerosis and liver disease caused by ethanol, insecticides derived from organophosphorus cpds., CHCl3, CCl4 etc. They are administered in usual forms, the normal adult dose being 60-120 mg/day.
