UV-light hardening acrylate ester compsns. - contg. benzoin derivs. as photo-initiators, giving improved stability in dark
Compsns. contg. (A) 20-99.5 wt. % reaction prod. of at least one polyepoxide with more than one epoxide gp. per molecule and (meth)acrylic aciw with 0.6-1 COOH gps. per epoxide gp. and (B) 0-79.5 wt. % polyfunctional (meth)acrylate ester, with (C) 0.5-20% based on (A+B) photoinitiator consisting of...

Summary: | Compsns. contg. (A) 20-99.5 wt. % reaction prod. of at least one polyepoxide with more than one epoxide gp. per molecule and (meth)acrylic aciw with 0.6-1 COOH gps. per epoxide gp. and (B) 0-79.5 wt. % polyfunctional (meth)acrylate ester, with (C) 0.5-20% based on (A+B) photoinitiator consisting of a benzoin deriv. of formula (in which Ar is an aromatic gp. opt. substd. with alkyl, alkoxy or halogen; R1 is 1-12C alkyl, cycloalkyl, tetrahydropyranyl or 1-methoxy ethyl; R2 is allyl, benzyl opt. substd. with Cl or -CH2CH2X; X is CN. CONH2 or COOR3; and R3 is H or 1-10C alkyl). Compsns. are useful as coating or impregnating materials, or as binders for printing inks, which are hardened by exposure to UV light. The initiators give highly reactive compsns. with improved storage stability in the dark, and without discolouration of the hardened film. |
