Summary: | The collector for oil slicks on water uses the overflow principle with a number of connected containers. The oil is recovered for further use by suitable further treatment. The collector is a floating ship with its own propulsion system and hence it is also able to collect separated, smaller slicks. The high viscosity of some oils can be reduced by a heating system provided. The boat has flared enclosure walls on its front for increasing the oil layer thickness. The oil enteres the separation vessel which has a vertical partition wall with an opening at the bottom. An overflow is provided for removing the oil layer and another overflow is provided for removing water. A pump for floating oil is provided for working in shallow waters. The collector can also be anchored for collection purposes into flowing streams. |
