Summary: | Oil seal for rotary piston engine where the rotor is fitted with two concentric ring grooves on each of the side surfaces lying opposite each other to receive the oil seal. The oil seal consists of a corrugated circular spring in the base wall of the outer ring groove with a metal sealing ring of 'U' shaped cross section which opens inwards radially and is fitted into the outer ring groove in pressure contact with the adjoining wall surface of the engine housing and is fitted into the groove under tension from the circular spring. Into the 'U' shaped opening of the sealing ring an 'O' ring made from flexible material is inserted with the sealing ring having a thin walled stay section, from which a rib section extending radially outwards is formed at one point in the opening or the ring roove. |
