Summary:1448419 Making enzymes; binding them to polymers BAYER AG 1 Nov 1974 [3 Nov 1973] 47362/74 Heading C3H [Also in Division C2] Penicillin acylase is covalently bonded to a cross-linked copolymer of the composition: (A) 0À1 to 50 wt. per cent α,#-mono-olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic anhydride of 4 to 9 C, and (B) 99À9 to 50 wt. per cent of di- and/or poly-(meth)acrylates of diols and/or polyols, or of similar composition containing also 5-60 wt. per cent of a hydrophilic olefinically unsaturated monomer. Examples describe penicillinacylase bound to a carrier obtained from (A) tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate and maleic anhydride, or (B) tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate, methacrylic acid and maleic anhydride. The production of penicillin-acylase from Escherichia coli is also described.
