Summary:In an acousto-optical diffraction element, in which a vitreous matl. (I) exposed to an ultrasonic beam gives controllable diffraction of the light passing through it, (I) consists of Te, W, Li and Pb oxides. The element is for use in a facsimile receiver. The matl. has a partic. high degree of diffraction and low acoustic damping. (I) consists of 35.5 (wt)% WO3, 2.6% Li2O, 2.6% PbO and 59.5% TeO2.
