Summary:Electroslag remelting plant facilitates rapid change-over from one schedule of operation to another, i.e. from an "Electrode-Electrode" schedule to an "Electrode-Base" schedule, and has a switching system whereby one of the shoes carried by the electrode holder cables is connected with an electrode collector by a flexible connecting member and can be moved into contact with the collector of a second electrode. The other shoe belonging to the second electrode can be moved to a spring-loaded, third collector that ie electrically connected with the base. The shoes are rigidly connected with but electrically insulated from each other.
