Summary: | Photographic high contrast pictures, esp. point- or raster picture printing patterns with reduced seams or edges round spots or points, are produced by developing an exposed photographic high contrast element with a developer contg. (a) >=1 dihydroxybenzene, esp. in form of hydroquinone, and (b) a sulphite ion and opt. a sulphite ion buffer, e.g. an aldehyde- or ketone-bisulphite adduct, and then treating the photographic element with a soln. of an oxidising agent, esp. a bichromate, ferricyanide, persulphate, perchlorate or a complex salt of Fe-(III)-ions. Pref. soln. is used as oxidising bath before fixing and contains an oxidising agent, esp. a brichromate, ferricyanide, persulphate or perchlorate, and a halide, esp. an alkali- or NH4 halide; or as a fixing soln. contg. fixing agent, esp. an alkali- or NH4 thiosulphate, and an oxidising agents, esp. a complex salt of Fe-(III)-ions with an org. acid. esp. EDTA. |
