Summary: | 1388749 Foam containing laminates D LISSMANN [trading as ALKOR-WERK KARL LISSMANN KG] 7 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971] 56663/72 Heading B5N A deep-drawable laminated material comprises a foam layer and a cover layer bonded to a or each surface of the foam layer by means of a bonding agent, the foam layer comprising an olefine polymer or copolymer, the or each cover foil comprising polyvinyl chloride, an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, a polyvinylchloride / acrylonitrile - butadienestyrene copolymer mixture or a vinyl chloride copolymer and the bonding agent being a chlorinecontaining thermoplastic high polymer. The foam material may be an ethylene homo- or copolymer or a chlorinated olefine homo- or copolymer. The bonding agent, which is suitably used in the form of a foil may be a chlorinated polyolefine, e.g. chlorinated polyethylene or an ethylene-vinyl chloride copolymer. In a preferred embodiment, a foil is applied to one surface of the foam layer and a layer of self adherent adhesive optionally covered with a releasable protective web is applied to the other surface. In a further embodiment, a cover foil is applied to one surface of the foam layer, the other surface being provided with a heat-activatable adhesive, e.g. an acrylic acid ester polymer foil for application to a metal layer. The product of the invention may be made by laminating preformed layers under heat and pressure; alternatively, the product may be formed by co-extrusion, optionally on the presence of a reactive gas introduced between the extruded layers or foils to improve the adherence thereof. |
