Summary:Aminoamidines of formula (I): R1-NH-R2-NR1-CH=N-X)n-R (I) (where n is 1 or 2; R is an opt. substd. aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic or aralkyl residue, and X is a single bond, a residue NR or H; X being a direct bond when n is 2), are prepd. by reacting r-(X-NH2)n with a cpd. of formula (II) at -20 to +200 degrees C; (where R1 is an opt. substd. aliphatic, aromtic or heterocyclic residue, and R2 is not >3C alkylene which is opt. substd. by lower alkyl, Cl or CN and in which a double bond may be present, or R2 is a single or double bond of a 5- or 6-membered cycloaliphatic ring or of a fused benzene ring).
