The module includes at least one opto-semiconductor (9) which is electrically connected to contacts formed on the underside of a baseplate (3). The opto-semiconductor is arranged so that light can be transmitted away from a surface (10) of the baseplate in a transmission direction (A), and/or so that light can be received on the surface of the baseplate in a reception direction (B). The contacts are formed using conductor tracks (5) which are electrically insulated from the baseplate, and which are formed on a circuit board substrate. The conductive tracks are insulated from the baseplate by an insulating adhesive. Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Wandlermodul (1) zum Senden und/oder Empfangen von Licht mittels wenigstens eines Optohalbleiters (9) und ein Verfahren zur Herstellung, wobei der wenigstens eine Optohalbleiter (9) mit Kontakten elektrisch verbunden ist, die auf einer Unterseite (2) einer Grundplatte (3) ausgebildet sind, und wobei der wenigstens eine Optohalbleiter (9) so angeordnet ist, daß das Licht in einer Senderichtung (A) von einer Oberseite (10) der Grundplatte (3) weg gesendet werden kann, und daß das Licht in einer Empfangsrichtung (B) auf die Oberseite (10) der Grundplatte (3) zu empfangen werden kann. Die Kontakte sind mit Hilfe von Leiterbahnen (5) ausgebildet, die von der Grundplatte (3) elektrisch isoliert sind und auf einem Leiterplattensubstrat ausgebildet sind.
