Dental isolating material (I) comprises 10-60 wt.% water, 30-85 wt.% alcohol (containing 2-4 carbon atoms), 2-10 wt.% polyvinyl alcohol and 0-30 wt.% acetone. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a dental kit comprising (I) and optionally a transparent dental embedding material comprising 10-30 wt.% polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, 40-55 wt.% polymethyl methacrylate, 5-15 wt.% finely divided silica, less than 1 wt.% photoinitiators and stabilizers, 0-10 wt.% polyethylene glycol and 10-30 wt.% urethane dimethacrylate, bis-GMA (not defined) and/or ethoxylated bis-GMA; (2) a process for producing a dental prosthesis, comprising shaping an embedding material around a wax model, hardening the embedding material with electromagnetic radiation (and removing the wax), coating the inside of the resulting mold with (I), casting a dental plastic in the mold, and breaking the embedding material; (3) a dental prosthesis produced by the process of (2).
