A rotation unit rotates brush rollers (76,78) to rake printing material from the surface of recording medium. The printing material on the front and rear ends are raked respectively when the direction of rotation of brush rollers either allows or hinders the conveyance of printing material along a particular direction. A control unit controls the switching between the rotation direction of brush rollers. The reproducing apparatus removes the printing material which forms image by the process of conveying the recording medium in predetermined direction. The printing material on the front and rear ends of recording medium are raked by brush roller, when the direction of rotation of rollers allows or bars the conveyance of printing material along a particular direction. When the rotation direction of brush roller switches, time stoppage is carried out. Based on the relative difference of the moving speed of the brush roller and conveyance velocity of recording medium, the printing material is raked from the surface of recording medium. An Independent claim is also included for reproduction method of recording medium involves removing the surface layer of recording medium by brush roller, the front and rear ends of conveyance direction of recording medium are inserted to the removal area of brush roller respectively, when the direction of rotation of brush roller either allows or hinders the conveyance direction.
