Summary:The invention relates to an electric drive unit, especially for automobile windscreen wipers, comprising a drive motor with an armature accommodated in a substantially pot-shaped motor housing or pole box (10), in addition to a substantially pot-shaped gear housing (20) accommodating gear elements and whose face is secured to the motor housing and can be closed by a gear cover (50). The inventive drive unit is characterized in that a closeable opening (32) is included in the gear housing or motor housing and that a brush-holder support (40) for carbon brushes can move through said opening in a radial direction by means of a commutator pertaining to the drive motor.
