Summary:The present invention pertains to a fuel injector for internal combustion engines, where the fuel is fed by a high pressure pump into a high pressure tank (6) which supplies electrically-operated injection valves. In order to maintain the high pressure inside the tank, a first variable delivery pumping element (16) feeds fuel into said tank, while a second pumping element (17) does it, if need be, at a constant rate. Thus, a simple and economical device is obtained for feeding high pressure into the injection system.
