Summary:A firing pin (22) between the face (28) of the hammer (14) and the cartridge chamber ignites the round in the latter on pulling the trigger (16). An oblong recess (26) in the hammer face accommodates a transmission bolt (30), which slides from the retracted position into the extended one between the hammer and pin. In the retracted position the transmission bolt is alongside the pin, allowing this to protrude into the recess without coming into contact with the hammer. A mechanism (42) independent of the trigger controls the bolt position. The trigger actuates a cam (38) holding the bolt in the extended position after the trigger has been pulled.
