Electrolytic cell having solid polymer electrolyte de-humidifiers e.g. to prevent condensation

This electrolytic cell has a solid polymer electrolyte layer (3) and a pair of bases (11, 21) with passages (31, 32) formed in them. These are made of metal plates, and are embedded in front and rear surfaces of the polymer electrolyte layer (3), holding it between them and serving as electrodes (1,...

Summary:This electrolytic cell has a solid polymer electrolyte layer (3) and a pair of bases (11, 21) with passages (31, 32) formed in them. These are made of metal plates, and are embedded in front and rear surfaces of the polymer electrolyte layer (3), holding it between them and serving as electrodes (1, 2). They are supplied from an external DC source. Catalyst layers (12, 22), cover outer surfaces of the bases (11, 21) and parts of the polymer (3) in passages (31, 32) through the bases. The catalyst supports electrolytic reactions with outer gas- and/or fluid molecules. Also claimed is the method of making the cell, substantially in the form described.
