Summary:The marking system is in the form of a carriage mounted unit. It operates on strip material 1 that is upto 9 metres in width and is moved at a high rate. The carriage is moved on a transverse guide 2 that has a number of rails on which profiled wheels 7 run. The actuation for the system is in the form of a linear electrical motor 5,6. Mounted on the carriage are a pair of ink jet printers 3 that mark the strip at fault locations. The print head is connected via interface to a PC having a marking pattern for printing of bar codes.
