Summary:Oxazolidinone derivatives of formula (I) and their salts are new. A = a group of formula (a) or (b); E, G, L, M = N or CR4, provided that at least one is N; R4 = H, Me or halo; R2, R5 = H, 3-8C cycloalkyl, 3-8C cycloalkylcarbonyl or 1-8C alkyl (optionally substituted by OH, halo, 1-6C alkoxy, 1-6C alkoxycarbonyl, 1-6C alkylthio or NR6R7); R6, R7 = H, cycloalkyl, Ph or 1-4C alkyl; R3 = 1-8C alkyl or 1-8C thioalkyl; D = 0, S or NR5; T = O or S; R1 = azido, OH, OR8, OSO2R9 or NR10R11; R8 = 1-8C acyl or a hydroxy protecting group; R9 = 1-4C alkyl or Ph (optionally substituted by 1-4C alkyl); R10, R11 = 3-6C cycloalkyl, H, Ph, 1-8C alkyl, 1-8C alkoxy, amino protecting group, COR12, CSR12, P(O)(OR13)(OR14) or SO2R15; R12 = H, 3-6C cycloalkyl, CF3, 1-8C alkoxy, Ph, benzyloxy, H, 1-8C alkyl (optionally substituted by CN, halo or CF3), 1-6C thioalkyl, 1-6C acyl or NR16R17; R16, R17 = H, Ph, 1-6C alkyl or a five-membered aromatic heterocycle with 1-4 heteroatoms chosen from S, N and/or O); R13, R14 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R15 = 1-4C alkyl or Ph.
