Summary:The invention relates to a fuel cell current collector made of a special steel alloy, the latter forming a corrosion-resistant oxide coating on the current collector surface. The current collector (5) contains a doping agent at its surface, the valency of the doping agent being different from that of the cations contained in the oxide layer. The doping agent can either be deposited on the surface of the current collector or can be a component of the steel alloy used for the current collector. The doping agent used can be a chromium-containing special steel alloy which forms a lithium ferrite layer on its surface, e.g. cobalt or one or more of the elements cobalt, manganese, copper, magnesium. The invention results in a current collector which, while having good corrosion resistance, also has high conductivity and is suitable in particular for use with high-temperature fuel cells based on lithium-potassium, lithium-sodium or lithium-sodium-potassium-carbonate electrolytes. It can be used to particular advantage as the cathode-side current collector in a high-temperature fuel cell of this type.
