Summary:On the piston (2) outer periphery is located a first top groove (4) for a top piston ring (6), as well as further two lower grooves (5) for lower piston rings (7). The piston rings (6, 7) are arranged movable between two positions in the grooves (4, 5). There is at least one coupling line (10, 14) leading from the top groove bottom (8) through the piston skirt to a chamber between the piston outer periphery, the two piston rings, and an inner periphery of a cylinder. Pref. the geometry of the coupling lines is used to adjust the pressure conditions between the top and bottom side of the piston rings.
