Summary:1,252,791. Railway wagons. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE A.G. 2 April, 1969 [17 April, 1968], No. 17250/69. Heading B7L. [Also in Division G1] A railway vehicle comprising an upper carriage 2 mounted on a lower carriage 1 is provided with a load measuring device 12 and a lifting device 13, the load measuring device 12 being operable only when the lifting device is actuated to lift the upper carriage 2 away from a seated position on the lower carriage 1 whereby the weight of a load, e.g. a metallurgical vessel, supported by the upper carriage can then be obtained. As shown, the carriages 1, 2 which may each comprise generally rectangular frames are provided adjacent their corners with complementary recesses 9, 10 which accommodate load measuring devices 12 and hydraulic jacks 13 in vertical alignment with rocker bearings 17 for wheel bogies 16. The complementary recesses 9, 10 at one end of the vehicle are bevelled at their engageable edges 15 so as to form fixed bearings when the upper carriage 2 is seated on the lower carriage 1 whereas the complementary recesses 9, 10 at the other end of the vehicle are provided with relatively slideable bearing surfaces 14. The carriages 1, 2 may be guided in their relative vertical movement by leaf springs and a guide projection on one carriage may be engageable with a complementary recess on the other carriage.
