Summary:1,110,418. Making pneumatic tyres. NATIONAL-STANDARD CO. 9 June, 1965 [11 June, 1964], No. 24432/65. Heading B7C. A -substantially radial-cord tyre carcass is built up by winding a continuous cord-reinforced rubber strip 14 about spaced bead wires 16, 17 in circumferentially successive series of overlapping layers A, B so that the cords of the layers A, B make equal and opposite angles of the order of 2 degrees to the radial planes and so as to provide during winding a crown 19 radially outwardly of the wires 16, 17. The layer A, B preferably abut at the bead wires and may either overlap at the crown as shown or may be spaced to form in effect a single ply at the crown. Several such strips may be applied, and the tyre is finished by adding cross-laid breaker layers, a tread and sidewalls.
