Summary: | 1,232,706. Metal glycol germanates. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 3 May, 1968 [5 May, 1967], No. 21028/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Metal salts containing the anion are formed by reacting a metal salt with a germanium glycollate in ethylene glycol. The metal may be an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, Zn, Cd, In, La, Sn, Pb, Mn or Co. The salt may be of formula where M represents a metal and x is 0 or a low integer. In an example GeO 2 was dissolved in ethylene glycol under N 2 , and reacted with a solution of manganous acetate tetrahydrate in ethylene glycol while cooling to about 5 C. to form manganous glycol germanate of empirical formula C 12 H 30 GeMnO 12 . In a further example zinc acetate dihydrate was used in analogous manner to form zinc glycol germanate. |
