Summary:1,112,110. Reactors.. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. 27 Aug., 1965 [1 Sept., 1964], No. 36866/65. Heading G6C. A boiling-water reactor having a core 3 within a pressure vessel 1 and a cover in two parts 10, 11 hinged at 12 and provided with perforations 13, is characterized by a plurality of devices 5 for separating vapour and liquid. The devices 5 each comprise a cylindrical vessel into which the mixture of vapour and liquid enters at the top, the liquid leaving at the bottom through holes 7 and entering the coolant compartment 6 and the vapour being led off through tubes 8 and entering a vapour compartment 9. A proportion of the mixture which does not enter the devices but which passes through the perforations 13 is separated by gravity above the cover 10, 11. These perforations may be formed by adjustable apertures (Fig. 11, not shown). A number of vapour and liquid separating devices may be mounted one above the other and disposed around the core (Fig. 13, not shown), these devices also forming a thermo-shield for the pressure vessel.
