Summary:A paint spray booth has ventilating air inelts at the top, V-section bottom walls converging <PICT:0935857/III/1> downwards and terminating in an elongated exhaust outlet, a drop separator for the exhausted air in communication with the outlet, and liquid supply means for forming a continuous film on the V-section bottom and the side walls of the inlet channel of the separator so as to protect them from the deposit of paint. As shown, a booth 1 is supplied with air via inlets 3 and filters 4, the air and over-sprayed paint being exhausted via orifice 6 at the foot of V-shaped walls 5. Liquid is supplied to reservoirs 26 and 28 and flows down the walls 5, a further supply being drawn into slots 11, the orifice 6 and inlet tube 7 of the separator 8 forming a Venturi passage. The washing liquid and entrained paint passes via conduit 15 to a tank 14; it may then be filtered and recycled. If in a series of booths some are used for electrostatic spraying, these are not supplied with air, and the washing liquid therefrom passes into the same elongated outlet as that from the other booths.
