Summary:The invention relates to an internal combustion engine, especially a charged internal combustion engine, comprising at least one cylinder (6) with a reciprocating piston (7) and at least two intake valves (4) per cylinder (6) as well as a roof-shaped combustion chamber cover area (8) in the cylinder head (1). The intake ducts (2) extending to the intake valves (4) generate a tumble flow (T) in the combustion chamber (5), the main directions of flow (40) of the partial flows (E) that are sucked into the combustion chamber (5) via the intake valves (4) respectively enclosing an acute angle (f) together with a longitudinal plane (6b) determined by the cylinder axes (6a) of a cylinder bank. The inventive internal combustion engine further comprises at least one discharge duct (3) per cylinder (1). In order to reduce fuel consumption, the tumble rate ranges between 1.2 and 2, preferably between 1.4 and 1.9.
