Summary:Certain acylated 2,5-aminophenols of formula: <FORM:0955009/C2/1> wherein one of the symbols X and Y represents -SO2R and the other -COR, are prepared by reacting 2-amino-5-nitrophenol with the appropriate sulphonyl or acyl chloride, reducing the nitro group to an amino group and reacting this amino group with the appropriate carbonyl or sulphonyl chloride to yield 2-palmitoylamino-5-thienylsulphonylaminophenol, 2-palmitoylamino -5- p-toluenesulphonylaminophenol, 2-p-toluenesulphonylamino -5- (1-hexadec -2- enyl) succinoyl-aminophenol, 2-methylsulphonylamino -5- lauroylamino-phenol and 2-thienylsulphonylamino -5- lauroylamino-phenol.
