A food oven has an access aperture (1a) with a glass hatch (3). Hot air is circulated within the oven by a blower (6) located outside the oven sidewalls (1) and directed to form an air curtain (2) between the glass inner surface and the remainder of the oven interior with the air rotor (7). The air blower outlet may be located either near the base of the hatch or near the top of the hatch. The hot air is directed by guide vanes (8). Derartige Backöfen besitzen eine Ofenmuffel, deren Beschickungsöffnung (1a) durch eine Backofentür (3) mit mindestens einer transparenten Scheibe verschließbar ist und der ein Gebläse (6) zur Umwälzung der Warmluft in der Ofenmuffel zugeordnet ist. DOLLAR A Um die Verschmutzung der transparenten Scheibe auf deren der Ofenmuffel zugewandten Seite zu mindern, sieht die Erfindung vor, daß das Gebläse (6) außerhalb der Ofenmuffel (1) mit seiner Luftaustrittsöffnung (6a) im Bereich der Backofentür (3) derart angeordnet ist, daß der Gebläse-Luftstrom unter Bildung eines Luftvorhanges (2) vor der Innenseite der Tür-Scheibe an einer Türseite eintritt und auf der gegenüberliegenden Türseite in die Ofenmuffel (1) unter Bildung eines Umluftstromes (7) gelenkt wird.
