Summary: | A membrane module comprises at least three parallel membrane plates each having at least four corners with two edge of each membrane plate at a distance from each other in pairs whereby the membrane plates are connected to their neighboring membrane plates in a fluid-tight connection along two of the edges in pairs such that intermediate fluid permeable regions are formed. A membrane module (I) comprises at least three parallel membrane plates each having at least four corners with two edge of each membrane plate at a distance from each other in pairs whereby a first membrane plate is essentially connected to a second neighboring membrane plate in a fluid-tight connection along two of the edges in pairs such that a first intermediate region is formed between the first and second membrane plates that is permeable in a first direction and whereby the second membrane plate is in essentially fluid-tight connection with a third membrane plate along both of the other edges of the second membrane plate to form a second intermediate region that is permeable in a second direction that is at an angle to the first direction.
